MANU is a holistic program that supports parents on their way to parenthood. From a positive pregnancy test to the busy everyday life as parents.
The MANU project is a nationally supported and government-funded program offered to parents throughout the whole of Greenland. MANU material has been developed for: Parenting, Children 1-2 years, Children 3-4 years, MANU Hash, MANU Alcohol, MANU Parent Meeting and MANU Town Hall.
MANU educates, counsels and supports all personnel that work with MANU materials, so that all parents, including foster and adoptive parents, receive the same education, no matter where in Greenland they reside.
MANU prepares all parents, both women and men, on their way to be the best parents that they can be.
Both mothers and fathers are in focus and receive the same possibilities to look back on their lives, think over where they are now and explore their dreams and expectations for their children’s futures. MANU’s goal is to give all parents/foster and adoptive parents–to-be, the best possibilities with a new child in the family and also give parents with children 1–4 years the tools for a good parenthood.
Educators in MANU are local social and health personnel, who through education and training in MANU’s concepts will work with the parents.
“I had difficulty understanding it and believing it. I was a father, it was weird. (..) I suddenly I felt there were many things to think about. I was proud, satisfied with myself and uneasy at the same time “
